Melissa West RVT

Melissa is a native Ohioan and Registered Veterinary Technician who earned her degree in Veterinary Technology from Kent State University. She has been working in the veterinary field since 2015 in private practice as well as non-profit rescue.  Melissa has been passionate about animals and their care ever since she was born, and recently discovered her love of educating pet owners everywhere. Melissa is very excited to share her knowledge and experience with her community. In her spare time she enjoys knitting, cooking, and spending time with her fiancé and their multitude of rescued pets – including a 3-legged pitbull.

Denise Varner RVT

Denise has been a Registered Veterinary Technician for 33 years and her passion has always been in emergency and critical care where she has spent 28 years of her career. During that time she found a passion as an instructor in the Veterinary Technology Program and in Animal Welfare and Management where she watched her students excel with their passion for animals like herself. Understanding the need for online courses she received her D2L online certification as an instructor in Animal Welfare and Management.  In 1987 she worked in Orthopaedic Research/Microvascular teaching lab at CWRU. She loves the challenge of monitoring anesthesia and has spent countless hours in the operating room. She recently became certified in Advanced Pet CPR. She loves spending her time with her family and 3 furry feline friends.

Ashley Mohn RVT

Ashley has been in the animal field since 1998, working in numerous positions in Veterinary Clinics working with a vast array of animals such as Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Chickens, Dogs, Cats and pocket pets. Ashley became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2006 and has enjoyed helping others have an understanding and skill set to treat animals.

Diane Pekarek

For over 20 years Diane has worked as a senior manager and educator in the zoo and alpaca industry, and most recently in a public aquarium. During this time she created high quality employee training programs, and animal-focused education programs. Diane attended University of Denver’s Institute for Human-Animal Connection. Here she studied the critical role that animals play in helping people live healthy lives. Diane is the founder and operator of Corporate Canine, LLC (www.thecorporatecanine.com). This unique business creates and implements successful dog-at-work programs for companies of all sizes.
