This class is ideal for anyone that likes to participate in outdoor activities with their dogs including hiking, camping, boating, hunting, and even just going to the dog park.  Learn how to prevent and manage wilderness emergency medical issues that could befall your furry adventure friend. Taught by credentialed veterinary technicians, this class includes lecture and hands-on skill demonstrations.  Gain the knowledge and skills to be able to respond to common as well as catastrophic canine injuries and illnesses that can occur while engaging in many outdoor activities. Our Wilderness First Aid for Dogs curriculum is for outdoor enthusiasts who like to take their dogs on their adventures where access to emergency veterinary care is unavailable.  Learn to help increase your dog’s chance of survival and/or prevent their medical emergencies from getting worse by knowing what to do when emergencies happen during outdoor activities.  This is a comprehensive detailed program that focuses on wilderness first aid and the management of medical emergencies that can happen to your dog in remote areas, trail hiking, camping, water activities and more. Topics to be discussed include: how to perform emergency triage on your dog, safely transport injured animals to veterinary care from remote locations, how to obtain vital signs, determine normal vs abnormal readings, materials in a canine wilderness first aid kit and what each is used for, how to manage medical emergencies such as wounds, fractures, heat stroke, snake bites, burns, choking and more.  Participants will participate in a fun hands on workshop during the class learning how to apply an emergency muzzle and leg splints on dogs.  Each participant will receive a copy of our 90+ page reference guide as an e-book, 2 certification wallet cards, an official certificate and a 2yr subscription to our online resource center.  

This class is designed to teach the average person how to administer emergency CPR and first aid to an animal until veterinary care can be ascertained.

• This is an interactive class with a live instructor.
• Participants are required to have a stuffed animal to practice on, a good internet connection, video and audio access. Instructor MUST be able to view everyone in attendance.
• Attendance and participation in the class is required for certification.
• Only paid participants will be allowed to view the presentation. Make sure you pay for each person that will be in attendance.
• Everyone must have a smart device or computer with monitor to be able to view the presentation. If multiple paid participants are at the same location they may share the same device to attend the class however the instructor must see everyone clearly in the video window on zoom.
• Class combines lecture, Q&A session, and interactive hands-on portion with feedback from the instructor.
• Instructors are credentialed veterinary technicians and classes offer not only RACE approved CEU but certification in animal CPR, First Aid, and emergency response. We teach the most current method of animal CPR endorsed by the veterinary industry.
